Business Continuity
What happens to us if AtlasOA ever goes away?
It is a fair question for any vendor, and more so for a small company. Because the software runs on your infrastructure, most of the answer is already in your hands.

| Item | What happens |
|---|---|
| Your database | Stays on your server. It is a standard SQLite file that any SQLite tool can read, with or without our software. |
| Uploaded files | Stay on your server as ordinary files. |
| Exports you have made | Yours, in standard formats (CSV, XLSX, DOCX, TXT, ZIP, PDF). |
| Your backups | Yours, wherever your institution stores them. |
| The installed application | Does not depend on any AtlasOA, LLC server to run. There is no license server, activation service, update service, or cloud component that could be switched off. |
| Your right to keep using it | Governed by your license agreement. We do not promise that any version will keep working indefinitely on future versions of Windows. |
| Updates and security fixes | Would stop. This is the real risk: plan to move to another system within a reasonable time, using your exported data. |
| Documentation | Keep copies of the guides and PDFs you rely on. Everything in our resources library is downloadable today. |
Compared with a hosted service
If a hosted vendor closes, your data can disappear with its servers. With AtlasOA and Atlas K-12, the data never lived with us, so there is nothing to retrieve and no shutdown deadline to meet.
How to prepare
- Keep regular backups of the data folder, including the secret-key file. See Backup.
- Keep the installer for the version you run.
- Know how to export what you need. See Export formats.
- Keep your own copies of documentation.
Do not take our word for it. Test it yourself. Install AtlasOA or Atlas K-12 on a machine your institution controls, use sample or non-production data, and let your own people decide.
